Windows 10 – Brightness Not Working (Surface Pro 3)

My wife encountered an issue on her Surface Pro 3 (running Windows 10 Creators Update) this morning where the brightness sliders had no effect on the screen.

I took a look at it and found that the following solution worked for me:

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Sensors
  • Right click on HID Sensor Collection V2 and then select Uninstall from the pop up menu
  • Reboot

Hopefully this helps!

  1. Great. It worked. However, the brightness buttons on my keyboard still do not work….hmmmm. Thanks and if anyone has a solution please post.

  2. Update: I just found out that the Surface Type case keyboard FnF1 and FnF2 keyboard buttons are for control of the KEYBOARD backlight. The shortcut keys for brightness control are Fn Del and Fn Backspace.
