Windows 8 – Uninstall Multiple Windows Store Apps at Once Using Powershell

Windows 8 Logo

In Windows 8 we can right click individual Windows Store apps on the start screen and then uninstall them – but we cannot uninstall multiple apps at once using this method.

To uninstall multiple Windows Store apps we need to download a Powershell script from technet.

Extract the downloaded .zip file and then open RemoveWindowsStoreApp.ps1 in Notepad.

As per the instructions on the technet page we need to modify the Powershell script – simply scroll to the bottom on the file and add the following command before saving the file: Remove-OSCAppxPackage

Remove Windows Store App script with the Remove-OSCAppxPackage command added

To run the script, right-click it and select Run with Powershell from the menu.

RunWithPowershell

The Powershell windows will display a list of installed Windows Store apps along with a numeric ID:

Enter the IDs of the apps you want to uninstall, using a comma to separate each ID, and then press Enter:

Press Enter to confirm uninstall for each app that you selected:
